Guizhou province saw an increase in the number of tourists visiting during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday. With over 24 million tourists, Guizhou achieved a total tourism income of 15.58 billion yuan ($2.3 billion).
To improve its reception capacity during the peak travel period, Guizhou launched rural tourism, temple fairs, lantern fairs, and other activities to encourage tourists to visit other sites, apart from the province's conventional scenic spots.

Relying on the characteristics of its local ethnic culture and intangible cultural heritages, Guizhou organized around 1,000 activities that can best represent its native cultural charm and to create a holiday atmosphere for tourists from home and abroad.
In addition, Guizhou had frequent and in-depth exchanges with different countries, such as Austria and Thailand. A series of traditional performances by Guizhou troupes showed different elements of Guizhou's local culture and the charms of China, which promoted the new image of the southwest China province.
Around 100 new scenic spots were introduced and allowed tourists enjoy Guizhou's natural environment, handicraft art, and ancient heritage.

Guizhou focused on winter tourism and expanded its mountain tourism efforts. The 202 activities related to snow, ice, hot springs, and folk custom experiences included cultural places in its tourism routes, promoting the transformation of cultural resources into tourism products.
Guizhou also introduced innovations to its tourism services with big data technology providing real time traffic and meteorological information. At all levels, the culture and tourism departments stuck to their posts to guarantee a safe, convenient, and confortable experience for tourists. The index of travel satisfaction reached 82.54, 3.35 higher than the same period last year.
