"It is great to see the government highlighting rural issues this year —— six of the '10 Quality of Life Issues to Resolve in 2019' are rural area issues. They include ensuring water for 2.8 million rural people, providing free nutritional foods to kids from two to six years old in impoverished areas, and rebuilding 40,000 rural houses with safety issues. The report inspires me to work harder to alleviate poverty in Liping county."
"I also hope we can get more policy support on road maintenance and the renovation of the unsafe wooden houses of the ethnic minority in Liping."

"I am interested in the agricultural reform plan which will be promoted in rural areas. It will consist of the cultivation of 10 multi-million mu (1 million mu=667 square kilometers) of agricultural land and applying big data to agricultural production and marketing, in addition to developing smart agriculture".
"Since the agriculture industry developed in my hometown, more locals have been seeking jobs in mountain agriculture and poultry farming, rather than moving to another city to work. Efforts are being ramped up to optimize the production of medicinal materials and honey, as they are leading industries in my village."

"The government report underlines the protection of traditional ethnic cultures. After relocation, Miao culture has been disappearing at an accelerated rate, as younger people are leaving the traditional Miao village environment."
"Although it is common to see some old residents gathering to sing folk songs in the new house, few young Miao men know anything about traditional Miao culture because they are studying or working somewhere else."
"My friend and I teach Miao culture, including Miao folk songs, to young generations when they return home for Spring Festival. We hope Miao songs will be remembered by future generations."
