A 5G exploration zone debuted in the Guiyang Media Center during the Guiyang fourth session of the 14th Guiyang Municipal People's Congress and the third session of the 12th Guiyang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. It was built by China Mobile's Guiyang Branch together with the Guiyang Media Center.
The new zone allows visitors to enjoy not only superior network speeds, but also 5G virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) activities. Visitors wearing the proper equipment could experience a remote lesson on engine servicing.
"With 5G AR or VR, people can receive visual real-time distance teaching on how to repair machines," said a guide in the exploration zone. "5G technology increases the network speed of wearable devices and application scenarios. It is much faster than 4G."
"It is not just 5G technology we are concerned about. We are also concerned with how it applies to the real economy," said Guiyang People Congress representative Chen Shouyu after experiencing the 5G zone.
In addition, Guiyang was announced as one of 12 China Mobile 5G application pilot sites one month ago by China Mobile. Thanks to the development of Guiyang's big data industry in recent years, the city has received more opportunities to embrace hi-tech growth.
